Fred Ahrns, 73, residing at the corner of Forrest and Saratoga st. Newport, died suddenly yesterday afternoon while sitting in a chair in his back yard. He complained of being unable to get his breath while in the house and his wife advised him to go out into the yard. While sitting in the chair his wife noticed his head fall forward on his breast.

When she got to his side he was breathing his last. Ahrns was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of William Nelson Post GAR. Coroner Digby returned a verdict of death due to heart trouble.
