Private Frank Purvis
Kentucky Post, Saturday, 17 January 1903, page 5
Private Frank Purvis, serving sentence for desertion from the Coast Artillery and Private Waggoner, awaiting trial for desertion from the Hospital Corps made a bold and successful dash for liberty at Ft Thomas Ky. Friday evening while in charge of a sentry.
They were being taken with two other prisoners to their quarters in a former barracks building. Purvis and Waggoner leaped through a window on the lower floor and rushed down the steep hill to the C&O tracks. The sentry fired two shots after them but missed.
