NEWPORT


Frank Goff, 88 years old, a widower and father of several children, well known in Newport, died suddenly at midnight. Goff entered Machinott's saloon at the entrance to the Fourth street bridge, shortly before midnight and ordered a drink of whisky. He seated himself at a table, drank the whisky and seemed to fall asleep.

At midnight Maschinott shook Goff by the shoulder to wake him up and found that he was dead. Coroner Higgins was called and decided the death was due to apoplexy. The remains were removed to the family home at 526 West Eighth street. The deceased was the father of Frank Goff, well known in Newport.
