Kentucky Post, Monday, 21 August 1911, page 5
After partaking in the celebration of his mother's eighty-sixth birthday anniversary at her home in Cold Spring yesterday, Dr. Frank Ellsworth Bratt, 42, a district physician of Cincinnati with offices at 1210 East Third st. died very suddenly last night, while on his way home. Dr. Bratt, accompanied by his wife and little daughter, had been to Cold Spring early Sunday and late in the afternoon started home. He was in good health when he left his mother's home and on the way to Cincinnati stopped in Newport to call on Mr. and Mrs. Chas Pohl, of 718 East Ninth st.
While at the Pohl residence Dr. Bratt, who had been playing with his child and one of Pohls children, became suddenly ill. He gave a gasp or two and fell over dead. Just before he passed away he asked that his old schoomate, Dr. James Digby, be sent for, as he was not feeling well. Coroner Digby was quickly notified and when he arrived at Pohl's home, he had the painful duty of conducting a coronial inquiry into Dr. Bratt's death, instead of administering as a physician.
Dr. Bratt's remains were removed to his home in Cincinnati. He was very prominent in medical circles, having practiced medicine in that city for the past 16 years. He was especially active in school work, being the Fourth District physician. Dr. Bratt was prominent in lodge and social circles. He was a member of Vulcan Lodge, IOOF, and a member of the Knights of the Maccabees.
Besides leaving a wife and daughter, Dr. Bratt leaves an aged mother; a brother George; three sisters, Miss Villa Bratt of Newport, Mrs. Lizzie Eged of Tenokee, Kans. and Mrs. Mamie C Harrison of Fitzgerald, Ga. His brother, George Bratt, of Ponca, Okla. is a state senator.
