Services for Frank V Benton Sr. 81, prominent retired Campbell County attorney, will be held at 11 am Wednesday at the Betz Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Benton died Sunday at his home, 50 Oak Ridge, Ft Thomas. He practiced law 57 years following graduation from Salmon P Chase Law College, Cincinnati. He headed for many years one of the largest law firms in Campbell County, Benton, Benton, Luedeke & Rhoads, Newport.

Mr. Benton became attorney for the old Andrews Steel Corp. Newport in 1903 and the law firm still represents its successor, Acme-Newport Steel Corp. Mr. Benton underwrote construction of the seven story Finance Bldg. at Fourth and York streets, Newport in 1926. It is the city's tallest structure. He also developed several Campbell County subdivisions.

He was a member of the Campbell County and Kentucky Bar Assns. A resident of Newport since he was 11, he was educated at Newport High School. A son, Frank V Benton Jr. joined the law firm in 1926 and a grandson, Frank V Benton III in 1951. Besides the son and grandson, he leaves another son, John M Benton, West Palm Beach, Fla. three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Frazier, West Palm Beach; Mrs. Patricia Martin, Alameda, Cal. and Mrs. Beverly Stegman, Ft Thomas; a brother, Wilbur C Benton, Bedford, Va; two sisters, Mrs. Delight Kerr, Aurora Ind. and Mrs. Hetty Stemley, Washington C H O; 11 other grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will include Campbell Circuit Judges Ray L Murphy and Paul J Stapleton and attorneys, Lorimer Scott, R Howard Smith, Louis Reuscher and Webster Helm.
