NEWPORT
School Superintendent Dyer will tomorrow evening recommend to the
Board of Education the appointment of Francis M Russell as principal of the
Douglass School to succeed the later A J DeHart.
Russell is at present principal of the Newport Colored school. He is a graduate of Woodward High School and the University of Cincinnati, standing high in his classes in both institutions.
He school in Newport was visited by the local school examiners and they reported the discipline of the school first class and the instruction as upon a high basis. Russell is selected from among about 40 applicants. He stands high in the colored community.
