DEATH
A similar case to those already cited by Tuesday's Post occurred Tuesday, when the body of Private Clarence (Francis) Laughlin, a soldier of G Company, Seventh Infantry, was buried at Evergreen Cemetery without any notification to Coroner Higgins. The circumstances surrounding his death are, so far as can be learned, mysterious.
Coroner Higgins stated Wednesday that he would look into the matter and if necessary, have the body exhumed to ascertain the cause of the soldier's death. Private Laughlin in some way fell from the second story of a barracks building at Ft Thomas, sustaining injuries which caused his death.
The first notice Coroner Higgins received of his death was when he saw an account of Laughlin's funeral in the Post. He will call upon Surgeon Heyl for an explanation. The members of the County Board of Health are partly to blame, it is alleged and they will be called to account.
