Sergeant Floyd A Brooks, Newport Ky.

Near Champagney, France, Oct 13, 1918, after his lieutenant was seriously wounded, Sergeant Brooks took command of the platoon and led it with marked ability for seven days. Later, in the Argonne-Mense engagement, be personally led his platoon against a machine gun which was holding up the advance of our line and destroyed the gun.
