FOUNDING OF CHURCH WILL BE OBSERVED
Great Grandson of First Pastor To Be Speaker
The Rev. Gary Bausman Richmond, Va. Will deliver the principle address at the centennial exercises of the founding of the Flag Springs Baptist Church on State Highway No. 10, Campbell County, Ky., Sunday. The program will start at 10 A. M, and will conclude in the evening.
The Rev. Mr. Bausman is a great grandson of the Rev. James M. Jolly, noted Baptist minister, who founded the church in 1833. He also is the grandson of the Rev. W. T. Jolly, who also served the Flag Springs Church for a number of years.
The Rev. C. J. Avery, pastor will be master of ceremonies. A history of the church will be read by Mrs. Sallie L. Tarvin, 82 years old, who has been a member of the church for 70 years. She has served the church as clerk for 50 years. The first house of worship was a log cabin. Later a frame structure was erected under the supervision of the Rev. James M. Jolly. Among the early members were Thomas Beagle, Edward Morin, James C. McCrone, Thomas Kennedy and the Rev. Nicholas Pettit.
