Unnewehr Company

Kentucky Post, Saturday, 7 February 1903, page 2

About four years ago the immense four acre plant of the Unnewehr Company, back of Newport, was entirely destroyed by fire. At that time there was not ample insurance. The Unnewehr factory was one of the largest cigar box factories in the West and employed 100 hands. The head of the concern, Frank Unnewehr, died last November and since then his eldest son, George has been in charge of the plant.

The firm owned the building and the total loss is estimated at $60,000 which is covered by insurance. This includes the loss on stock, building and machinery. The capacity of the concern was 4000 boxes per day.
