#1-First day of Campbell County Court. Court Order Book #1, page 4, 1 Jun 1795. John Sanders is permitted to keep a Ferry from his lands on the South Fork of Licking to the land of Alvin Mountjoy on the opposite shore and to be allowed the following fare Viz. For man and horse, 19d horned cattle, 19d small stock 12d and for all carriages 10 re Wheel, where upon he entered into bond with John Waller his security as the Law directs.
#2-Court Order Book #1, page 5, 1 Jun 1795. On the motion of John Roberts Gent, he is licensed to keep a ferry from his lands at the mouth of Plum Creek on Licking to the opposite shore and to be allowed the same fare as John Sanders, whereupon he entered bond according to Law.
#3-Second day of Campbell Court. Court Order Book #1, page 7, 2 Jun 1795. John Grant is licensed to keep a ferry from opposite the lower street in the town of Wilmington to the opposite shore and to be allowed the same fare as other ferries across Licking near this place whereas he entered into bond agreeable to law.
#4-Sixth Session of Campbell County Court, Court Order Book #1, 1 Feb 1796. John Bush is appointed keeper of a public ferry from his land nearly opposite North Bend to the opposite shore he having with John Hall is security entered into and acknowledged bond according to law.
The widow of Samuel Perry, Mary Perry, was granted a license on April 4, 1796 for "her to keep a ferry from the lands of her late husband on the Ohio to the opposite shore." It is believed she was the first woman to obtain such a license in Northern Kentucky.
#5-October 14, 1799 Book A page 215-James Taylor agrees to give up the Ferry across the Licking River to the court of this County for one year and who doth agree to let Jacob Fowler have emoluments arising thereon for the said term who agreed to accept thereof. Ordered that he keep a boat for the convenience of foot passengers and horses on all Public Days for the inhabitants of this county and to pass and repass free of ferrages and be allowed the stipulated ferrage on all other days for his award for so doing except the said Taylor's own family who are to pass and repass ferry free.
#7-Book 1 page 2 September 11, 1805-On the application of Joel Craig by his attorney for a ferry across the Ohio from said Craig's farm in this county to the opposite side. Ordered that said action be granted. To which opinion Thomas Kennedy prayed an appeal and one month is allowed to file his bond with the Clerk of this court and prosecute hi appeal with Washington Berry, his security in the penalty of $500.
#8-Book 1 page 27 May 11, 1807-On the motion of Joel Craig who with Squire Grant his security is licensed to keep a ferry at his cabbins approximately 3/4 miles below the Licking across the Ohio River.
#9-Book 1 page 39 May 11, 1807-On the motion of
James Kennedy who together with Thomas Kennedy his security entered into and
acknowledged their bond as the Law directs he having heretofore obtained a
license from the County Court of this county to keep a ferry at his landing
opposite Peter Mackers, deceased, between the Little and Big Indian across the
Ohio. He is still permitted to keep said ferry and is allowed the same
ferriages.
On the motion of Thomas Kennedy who produced an attested copy of an order of
Woodford County authorizing him to keep a ferry across the Ohio River just below
the mouth of Licking and thereupon the said Thomas Kennedy together with
James
Kennedy his security...he is licensed to keep a ferry across the Ohio it
appearing to the Court that the place where the said ferry was established by
Woodford County is now in this County and being at the time of granting said
ordered in Woodford and he is allowed the same rates as allowed at the
establishment of the ferry.
#10-December 25, 1812-from the Western
Spy for sale or rent the farm and ferries, at the mouth of the Licking,
opposite Cincinnati. A description is unnecessary, as no person will either
purchase or rent without having viewed the premises, if not disposed of, will be
let to the highest bidder on the first day of January next. A general
warranty and immediate possession given, and reasonable credit will be given.
