Funeral services for Captain Eugene Y Handlan, 89, Civil War veteran and steamboat captain, were held Thursday from the Charles A Smith Sons Funeral home, 32 E Fourth st. Newport. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Handlan died Monday in Cleveland O. He formerly lived in Newport.
