HABEAS CORPUS
There is among the soldiers of the Barracks a young man, a minor,
by the name of Ernest Herman, who it appears, "would be a soldier" and therefore
enlisted without the consent of his friends. These friends, in order to release
him from the position into which he has so heedlessly thrust himself, made an
application yesterday to Judge Boyce for a writ of habeas corpus, which was
granted, and the writ placed in the hands of Officer Clary, who served the same
an hour or so upon Colonel Buchanan, the commanding officer of the Barracks.
the Colonel accepted service and a hearing will be had before Judge Boyce at the Court house this morning.
