CAMP SHELBY, MISS. Dec 12. Effective Dec 1, 10 soldiers of the 149th Infantry, 38th Division, from the northern section of Kentucky, were granted promotions here in regimental and company orders. They include: Ernest Gray, 124 E Second street, Newport.

Two northern Kentucky soldiers were listed by the War Department Tuesday as killed in action in the Mediterranean theater of war. Pfc. Ernest M Gray, 119 W Second street, Newport was announced as killed in action some weeks ago, now has been officially listed by the department as killed in action in the same theater of war.

Ft Thomas Living
Word was received in Northern Kentucky last week that PFC Ernest M Gray, 21, Newport, was killed in action in Italy recently. The announcement came from the War Department. PFC Gray was attached to an infantry division and had been overseas since last spring. Enlisting at Ft Thomas in March 1941, he was stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss. and participated in maneuvers in Louisiana.
Since his death of his parents some years ago he had lived with a brother, Edward Gray, 124 East Second Street, Newport. He also has two other brothers, Walter and Chester and two sisters.
