Private Elza Gerald Barker

Word that Pvt. Elza Barker of Newport was killed in action on
Attu Island has been received here by his relatives. He entered the service at
the Ft Thomas Military Post in September 1942 and prior to that time was
employed by the Newport Rolling Mill. Pvt. Barker trained in Georgia and Camp
Butner, NC.
He leaves one son, Robert Lee Barker, 617 Poplar street, Bellevue; his mother, Mrs. James Blevins, Germantown O; three sisters, Carrie, Edna and May, all of Germantown, and his girlfriend, Miss Theresa Whaley of Newport.
