Sgt. Elwood S Crews Jr. of the Marines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Crews of 412 Grand avenue, Ft Thomas, died of battle wounds Dec 9 in Korea, his parents have been notified. The 20 year old Ft Thomas serviceman had last written his family that he was well Dec 5.
He was a former Highlands High School football player and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity there. He joined the Marines after graduation in 1948 and sailed overseas last Aug 27. Besides his parents he leaves a sister Judy, 7. His mother, Mrs. Hazel Crews, is a former president of the Highland Homemakers Club in Ft Thomas and his father is a maintenance man at Bethesda Hospital, Cincinnati.
