COMMISSION-Elmer L Reitman, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Reitman, Route 1, Melbourne, KY. promoted from staff sergeant to technical sergeant; engineer and top turret gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress "Deacon's Parrish" stationed in England with the Eighth Air Force, entered the AAF in January 1943, formerly an aircraft engine tester, graduated from Campbell County High School in 1941.

T SGT. Elmer L Reitman, 21, son of Mrs. Nicholas Reitman of Camp Springs, has been missing in action over England since Jan 2, the War Department has informed his parents. He is a gunner on a Flying Fortress and has been overseas eight months. There was noting in the message to explain why the flyer was listed as missing over a friendly country.

MEMORIAL MASS-A memorial Mass for T Sgt. Elmer Louis Reitman, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Reitman, Camp Springs, Melbourne, will be sung at St Joseph Church, Camp Springs, at 9 am Saturday. T Sgt. Reitman, an engineer on a B-17 Flying Fortress, was presumed dead by the War Department last month. Previously he had been reported missing since Jan 2, 1945.
Entering the service in January 1943, T Sgt. Reitman went overseas in August 1944. He served as engineer and gunner on a number of missions before being lost on a mission from Ludham, England over the continent. He was a graduate of Campbell County High School and the Aviation High School in Cincinnati. He was employed at the Wright Aeronautical Co prior to entering service.
