Funeral services for Miss Ella Woodward, 17, of Claryville, were held Friday at 11 am at the Persimmon Grove Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miss Woodward was killed Tuesday night when a shotgun in the hands of her brother, Ernest, 15, accidentally was discharged.
The family had just finished supper when Ernest picked up the shotgun and walked outside. A short time later the shot was fired, the full charge striking the girl in the face. She died almost instantly. Dr. Walter B Hughes, Campbell co. coroner, returned a verdict of accidental death. The youth told Dr. Hughes the trigge of the shotgun caught on a twig.
Miss Woodward is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woodward and her brother. Sheanshang & Smith, Grants Lick Undertakers are in charge of the funeral.
