NEARLY 80 YEARS
When Newport was a wilderness and when a tiny baby, Mrs.
Elizabeth Wood, 81, who died yesterday evening, was brought to Newport by her
parents. Newport has since been her home. It is said by many that she had
resided in Newport nearly 80 years.
Her birthplace was England. Her death occurred at 610 Washington av. where she had been making her home. Pneumonia was the immediate cause. One of her sons, Charles Wood, was formerly Secretary and Treasurer of Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made. Undertaker Gus Menninger will have charge.
