Brooding over the death of her husband, which occurred four years ago, was given as the reason for Mrs. Elizabeth Schardt, of Dayton Ky. being declared of unsound mind in the Campbell Circuit Court Friday. Accoding to evidence in the case this morning the woman went to St Bernard Church in Dayton, last Sunday and created quite a disturbance during the services and it required several men to quiet her.
The woman was suffering under a hallucination that she was engaged to be married to Rev Griefenkamp, pastor of St Bernard Church and in her statement o the jury this morning stated she had been engaged to him since 1906. Her husband died about four (sic) * and it is thought this affected her mind. The jury found her of unsound mind.

Elizabeth Schardt, 60, arrested at her home, 1104 Second av. Dayton, late Thursday, by Campbell co. Deputy Sheriffs Infeld and Dramer for an investigation into her sanity, was held by a Campbell Circuit Court jury Friday to be sane and was liberated.

Joe Kiefer, Dayton patrolman, is suffering from a bad cut below his eye, inflicted by Mrs. Elizabeth Schardt, 1104 Second av. Dayton, who attacked him with a club when he called at the Schardt home on complaint made by her neighbors. Kiefer was called to the Schardt home Monday by relatives who said Mrs. Schard had been acting in a threatening manner. Previously she had been an inmate of Lakeside Asylum. Mrs. Schardt was held for examination on a charge of lunacy.

Trial of Mrs. Elizabeth Schardt, 1104 Second av. Dayton, was continued until Friday by Judge Otto Wolff. It is charge the woman is of unsound ming. Through her attorney, F P Shaw, she asked her case be continued in order that she may be examined by physicians. Judge Wollf appointed Dr. A O Frickman of Newport and Dr. J H Hohnstedt of Ft Thomas to make the examination.

Elizabeth Schardt died 10 January 1928 in Dayton Ky. and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
