Back From the Dead

For the past 10 years the relatives and friends of Thomas McDowell have believed him dead. Ten years ago Mrs. Jonte Horsfall, his sister, who lives on Overton street, received a post card stating that her brother Thomas McDowell was dead.

The card was postmarked Madison Indiana. She has never heard a word since then to the contrary.

Imagine her surprise when her brother walked in upon her yesterday morning. The recognition was not mutual, however, as the poor fellow is almost blind, and can scarcely discern the nearest object. The cause of his loss of eyesight was the unsuccessful attempt to remove a cataract from one of his eyes.

He stated that he had been living with his married daughter at Madison Ind. ever since he left Newport, ten years ago and was unable to explain the contents of the mysterious postal card announcing his death.
