NEWPORT
THE remains of Mrs. Elizabeth Doxon who died in Washington DC,
will arrive here today. The deceased was one of the pioneer ladies of Newport,
and grandmother to George Washington Esq. She was born in Virginia and removed
with her parents at an early age and continued her residence in this city until
a few years since.
She was an estimable lade, possessed of many noble traits of character and had fine literary abilities. Her funeral takes place today from Taylor street M E Church.
