Elizabeth Bohnenkamper

Kentucky Post, Saturday, 29 July 1905, page 5

John Bohnenkamper, a machinist residing at 220 West Fifth st. Newport, awoke this morning at his home to find his wife had expired some time during the night and he had lain beside her unconscious of the fact that she was cold in death. When Bohnenkamper awoke he noticed a peculiar color on his wife's face which startled him. He tried o arouse her, but without avail. The fact then dawned on him his wife was dead.

He sent for a physician but his services were not needed as Mrs. Bohnenkamper had been dead for some time. Coroner Higgins was notified and he held an inquest returning a verdict of death from cardiac paralysis. Mrs. Bohnenkamper was 28 years of age and had been in apparent good health. The death of her infant daughter a few weeks ago seemed to affect her greatly. Her husband told Coroner Higgins he felt his wife make a convulsive move during the night, which partially awakened him.

He paid not further attention to the occurrence and dozed off to sleep again. Coroner Higgins gave it as his opinion that Mrs. Bohnenkamper must have been in the death struggle when her husband was partially awakened. Besides her husband she leaves three young children.
