DEATH OF A FORMER CITIZEN-Mr. Elias Knauer, formerly a resident of Alexandria, who erected and owned the first steam grist and saw mill ever built in that town, and left here about the year 1857, and went to Yolo County, California, died there on the 19th of last month.

Mr. Knauer married a sister of Colonel Gus Artsman's wife and of Thomas E O Brooks, Esq. of Covington.  His many friends in Alexandria and vicinity will regret to hear of his demise.

He leaves a widow and three children ot mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father.  he suffered some injuries from a fall from his horse some time ago which resulted in paralysis and his subsequent death.
