Councilman Edward Senour, of Newport, was given his chance today by Mayor Helmbold of either resigning as a substitute city fireman or giving up his seat in the Newport Board of Council as member from the Second Ward.
Senour lost no time in telling the Mayor that he was done as a member of the Fire Department and he turned his badge over to Acting Chief Thomasson. Senour claims that he only served as fireman to help out the department and had not intention of acting in such a capacity permanently. The fact that two other substitute firemen resigned last night gave rise to the rumor that all is not serene in the department.
