EDWARD MELLON, 25, of Philadelphia, so pitifully begged that
detachment of soldiers that took him to Ft Thomas Wednesday not to compel him to
wear irons that his request was granted. He had surrendered at the Fourth
District Police Station as a deserter from the Marine Corps.
