SUICIDE AT THE NEWPORT BARRACKS-Sergeant Edward S Donnelly, who has been stationed at the Newport Barracks for nearly three years, and whose time would have expired on the 11th of this present month, committed suicide on Thursday, by shooting himself though the head with a pistol.

The cause of his committing the rash act was grief on account of the death of a sister, the news of which he received by letter on the day of his death.  Deceased served during the war as a Major of Volunteers.  He was twenty-eight years of age and his parents resided in Ottawa, Canada.  He was buried yesterday morning with military honors.
