POND CREEK
CONSIDERABLE excitement exists at Pond Creek and Alexandria on
account of the murder of a young man named Ed Jones, on Tuesday evening last.
From what we could learn about the affair, it would appear that there existed a
bad feeling between two young men, named Ed Jones and George Keys for some time
past.
Jones accused Keys of using some bad language, at the same time giving him a blow of his fist, when Keys picked up a rock and threw it at Jones, hitting him in the side of the head, from the effects of which he died in two hours.
Jailer Greenwood and Marshal Vitt arrested R Clark, Samuel Freeman (colored) and George Keys. A coroner's inquest will be held this morning, after which an examining trial will be held.
