The Republicans of Newport are busy today nominating a city
ticket to be voted for at the November election. The candidates for Mayor up to
a late hour last night were Alderman Ed Biltz, ex-Mayor George H Ahlering and
ex-Chief of Police Dave R Locke, with the odds in favor of Biltz.
This morning Ahlering withdrawal was announced, leaving the contest between Biltz and Locke.

Mayor Brown has accepted the resignation of Mayor-elect Edward Biltz as member of the Board of Aldermen.
