Funeral services for Dr. Fred C Weber, a member of the Newport Board of Education, former mayor of Newport and past grand commander of the Kentucky Knights Templar, will be held at the residence, 618 Linden avenue, Newport at 2 pm Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He was 64.
The city of Newport will be officially represented at the service by Mayor Leo G Boering, City Manager J B Morlidge and Commissioners James E Deckert, Earl Dietz, Oscar Hesch and Clarence Lehkamp who will be honorary pallbearers. Other honorary pallbearers will be Robert Rhode, Frank Gurrea, Oscar Rummell and Lawrence Harvey, members of the Board of Education: School Superintendent A D Owens and representatives of the various organizations of which he was a member.
Flags at the Newport City Building and all school buildings are being flown at half mast after the funeral. Dr. Weber was the first mayor of Newport under the city manager form of government. Two and one half years remain of his term on the Board of Education. He died Saturday at his home. Dr. Weber was a member of the James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion.
