An autopsy was to be performed Mondy by Dr. Donald Stevens, acting Campbell County coroner, to ascertain the cause of death of Nathaniel Cunningham, Cincinnati. The victim's body was found Sunday on the Licking River bank under the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Dr. Donald Morton Stevens was born 7 May 1921 in Fleming Co Ky. He died 26 June 1996 in Alexandria Ky. and was buried in Persimmon Grove.

He was a physician, a licensed attorney, a licensed pilot and a veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Kentucky Medical Association, a member of American Medical Association, and a member of the American Bar Association. He was a member of the Military Order of Wars and a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine. He was a former Campbell County coroner and an FAA aviation medical examiner.

Dr. Stevens was in Stalag Luft III from 1944 to 1945. He recalled escape attempts were made all the time. Two men who put white mattresses over their backs and crawled through the snow. but there were caught by the dogs and brought back. Prisoners kept abreast of the new via clandestine radios secreted inside wall. While one man would listen to a BBC news broadcast, others would be on the lookout, ready to distract German guards.  Stevens was a radio lookout. While he was watching an officer who had been a court reporter in civilian life was transcribing the news, which would then be typed in triplicate. Three men would go from barracks to barracks, read the news and then destroy the paper.

Dr. Donald M Stevens, 75, of Alexandria died Wednesday at his home. He was a physician, a licensed attorney, a licensed pilot and a veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Kentucky Medical Association, a member of American Medical Association, and a member of the American Bar Association. He was a member of the Military Order of Wars and a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine. He was a former Campbell county coroner and an FAA aviation medical examiner.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Stevens; a son, Donald M Stevens Jr. of Cincinnati; daughters Elizabeth Stevens of New York and Carolyn Trainor of Cincinnati; a brother Bert Stevens of St Augustine Fla. a stepson Clark Kyle of California Ky. and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 am Saturday at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Persimmon Grove Cemetery.
