Mr. and Mrs. Edward Druck, of 203 Grandview avenue, South Newport, were advised Saturday by the War Department their son, Pfc. Donald, assigned with the evacuation hospital unit in Italy, was wounded in action on last Feb 7. While no further details were learned, it is believed Pfc. Druck a member of a group of some 15 Campbell county boys cited for bravery for their work in the invasion of Salerno, was wounded when the Germans bombed the hospital unit.

Pfc. Druck, a former Newport High School football player and amateur boxer, has been in the service for two years.

A purple heart veteran of some of the ruggedness fighting of World War II died of a heart attack Sunday after hitting a home run in a picnic ball game. He was Donald Druck, 72, of 615 Eighth avenue, Dayton. Mr. Druck participated in some of the toughest battles of World War II and was wounded in the Anzio Beach landing. He was a member of the Dayton Youth Council and worked as a maintenance man at the Phelps Townhouse, Cincinnati.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Hazel Yunker Druck; a daughter, Cheri and three sons, Donald Jr. Mark and David. Services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at the Vonderhaar & Stetter Funeral Home, Newport, where friends may call from 4 to 9 pm. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
