General prisoners David Alcorn and William Prince, confined in the local guardhouse, will be removed to Ft Benjamin Harrison Sunday for transfer to the United States military prison at Ft Leavenworth. Alcorn in some manner procured a file and attempted to file off the ball and chain which was attached to his leg.
Corporal of the Guard Peter Ostrom, Company E Second Infantry, discovered Alcorn in the act just in time to prevent his escape.

Military convicts Alcorn and Prince were taken to Ft Benjamin Harrison Sunday by an armed guard from where they will be transferred to the Government prison at Ft Leavenworth.
