DEATH

Sgt. Daniel Shea, retired Newport policeman, died yesterday in St. Luke Hospital. Sergeant Shea, who retired on October 15, had been under a physician’s care for a heart ailment.  He lived at 50 Wilson Rd., Newport.

Sergeant Shea joined the Newport Police Department in 1930.  At the time of his retirement, he was in charge of the repair of parking meters for the department.  He was a veteran of World War I, a member of James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion, Newport, and of Newport Chapter Fraternal Order of Police.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Betty Shea, and a half brother, Harry Knarr of LaMesa, California.

Solemn Requiem High Mass will be intoned at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Immaculate Conception Church, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlenkamp funeral home, Newport, from 3 to 9 pm today.
