CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES

Colonel Daniel Meyers, 80 years old, widely known resident of Newport, Ky. and ticket agent at the Cincinnati Station, Louisville and Nashville Railroad, died at his residence southwest corner Ninth and Columbia avenue, Newport, last night. Relatives stated he had never fully recovered from injuries received in an accident recently.

Colonel Meyers received his commission during the Civil War and served as Colonel of the One Hundred and Eighty-seventh New York Volunteers Regiment. He was a resident of Newport for 60 years and employed by the railroad for 38 years. He was active in the GAR circles.

Surviving him, besides his widow, Mrs. Ida Smith Meyers, are two sons, Raymond and James Meyers, both connected with the L and N Railroad and one daughter, Miss Anna Meyers. Funeral services have not yet been completed.
