Captain Dan Lacy, 50, one of the best known men on the Ohio, died
Saturday morning at his home, 14 West Fifth Street, Newport. He was ill but five
days with pneumonia and lingered until Saturday. Capt. Lacy was married some
years ago to Miss B Shea, daughter of Murty Shea, of Sixth and York Streets, and
besides the widow, two children survive him. He had been connected with the
river for years and his father was a steamboat captain.
Capt. Dan Lacy was known as a purser on the boat, but always had the title of Captain. He was with the Queen City steamer until two years ago, and ran on the line to Memphis and later to Pittsburg. The news of his death will be a shock to his friends, who are numbered in the thousands.
The remains are being prepared by Funeral Director William C Betz, but the arrangements for the funeral have not been made as yet.

The funeral of Capt. Dan Lacy in Newport Tuesday morning was one of the largest that left Newport for some time and a large number of friends in Newport and Cincinnati attended. The funeral services were at the church of the Immaculate Conception. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev James McNerny.
The pallbearers were: Thomas Ryan, L C Widrig, James Fitzsimmons, Peter Hughes, E E Runnells and Eli Mack. Burial was at St Stephen Cemetery.

The funeral of Daniel Lacy, Newport, the well known steamboat man, took
place yesterday morning. Services were held at the Church of the
Immaculate Conception. Rev Father McNerny officiating with requiem high
mass.
The pallbearers were L C Widrig, Thomas Ryan, James Fitzsimmons, Peter Hughes, E C Runnells and Eli Moock. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery.
