At a Court held for Campbell County on Monday the 7th November 1796 at the house of Jacob Fowler in the Town of Newport.

Page 67-An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from Edmund Vaughan of the one part to Benjamin Johnson of the other part was certified by the Clerk of Scott according to Law and Ordered to be recorded.
An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from John Hawkins of the one part to Robert Kyle of the other part was certified by the Clerk of Scott & ordered to be recorded.
An Indenture of Bargain & Sale from same to Duncan McVickar certified by same & ordered to be recorded.
An Indenture of Bargain & Sale from Trustees of Newport of the one part to William Snodgrass of the other part was acknowledged by Wash. Berry & N. Kelly 2 of the Trustees & ordered to be certified.
An Indenture of Bargain & Sale from John Hawkins of the one part to William Cummins of the other part was certified by the Clerk of Scott County & ordered to be recorded.
Page 68-Indenture of Bargain and Sale from John Bartle & Lydia his wife of the one part to Thomas Chushing of the other part was acknowledged by the said John & Lydia, the said Lydia being first privily examined as the law directs & Ordered to be recorded.
The Sheriff upon a Writ of ad quod damnum to him directed on the Motion of John McClanahan to ascertain whether he should be allowed to erect a Water Gist Mill on Crooked Creek he owning the Lands on the South West Side of said Creek returned thereon that he had executed it and therewith the Inquisition of the Jurors under their hand and Seals which being read and the prayer of the said John granted thereupon the Said Inquisition was Ordered to be recorded & in substance as follows October lst 1796.
"We the Jury think that the acre petitioned for is worth 7/3 1/2 & 1 Acre on the North West side is worth 2 1/2 (?) & the Land that will be overflowed are worth 2 1/2 (?) the Acre & that there will be no office Curtilage Garden or Orchard overflowed by building Said Mill & that the navigation & the passage of Fish cannot be affected.
Page 69-On the Motion of Jacob White It is Ordered that a License be granted to him to keep a Tavern in this County for one year he having with Elizabeth Stevens his Security entered into & acknowledged a Bond conditioned as the Law directs.
Ordered that Archibald H. Reed, Achilles Alloway, Henry Brasher and James Little or any two of them act as Commissioners to perpetuate the testimony of the beginning of an Entry in the name of Benjamin Netherland for 7000 Acres on a Creek about 10 Miles East of the big bone Lick at a Sycamore Tree marked 1 I and that they meet for the purpose aforesaid on the 7th December next.
Ordered that Francis Spilman, John Williams, William German and Thomas Johnston or any three of them being first duly sworn act as Viewers to mark out the nearest and best way from said Spilmans to John Fowlers Salt Works on Bank Lick and make Report of the conveniences and inconveniences of the said intended Road to the next Court.
Page 70-An Inventory and Appraisement of the Estate of Joel Hume deceased was presented in Court & ordered to be recorded.
The Persons appointed to view and mark out a Road from Falmouth towards Harrison Court House reported that they had marked the same beginning at Falmouth then along Birds old Trace to Cowsen (?Cowsers) Plantation thence to Desengers Plantation thence to Sharps Pl'n thence across B1'ket Creek to Downards Road thence to Vances thence to Harr: Co: Line.. ord'd that the Road be so established that John Cook act as Overseer of the same & that the Male labouring Titheables along the said Road do attend the said Overseer in cutting out and repairing the same when requisite.
The persons appointed to view and mark out the Road from Sanders's Ferry to intersect the Grassy Creek Road reported that on the 28th May 1796 they had mark'd the same from John Sanders's ferry thro' the Lands of Isaac Mise John More(?) & John Fowler to intersect Grassy Creek Road on the ridge near head of Harris's Creek & that it might with little labour be made a good and convenient Road on consideration whereof it is Ordered that the Said Road be established according to the Said Report that John Sanders act as overseer of the same and that all the Male labouring Titheables along said Road do attend said overseer when required to cut out the same and to Keep it in good repair.
Ordered that all the Male labouring Titheables below Moreheads and across to include Washington Berrys attend as often as it may be requisite John Bartle the overseer of the Road from Newport to Thos. Lindsays.
Ordered that all the Male labouring Titheables above a line drawn from Moreheads to Berrys to a line to be drawn from the Mouth of Bartles run to the mouth of 4 mile on the Ohio attend James Johnston Surveyor of the Road from Thos. Lindsays to Mrs. Steven's as often as called on.
Ordered that all the male labouring Titheables above the last aforesaid line drawn from Allens on Licking to the Mouth of said 4 Mile attend Thomas Johnston the overseer of said Road from Stevens to Philips's Creek as often as call'd on.
Page 72-Ordered that all the Male labouring Titheables above the line in the last order mention'd on the North side of Licking attend John Roberts Overseer of the Road from Philips's Creek to Licking when called on.
Ordered that Charles Morgan, Washington Berry, and David Mortin act as Guardians of the orphans of Edmund Vaughan dec'd for the purpose of making a Conveyance of five hundred Acres of Land to Joseph Michaux out of a Tract of 8084 on Woolpers Creek according to agreement between the said Vaughan & the said Michaux & make report thereof to the next Court.
Ordered that John Grant Charles Daniel and Squire Grant or any two of them act as Commissioners to establish & perpetuate the beginning & all boundary Lines of Josaiah Isaacs first Entry of 2500 Acres of Land on the South Side of main Licking and make report to the next Court. This order was made on the Motion of William Lightfoot.
Page 73-Ordered that the order establishing the Road from the first waters of Grassy Creek to the Ford of Crooked Creek is confirmed.
On the Motion of Jane Cloud It is ordered that William Cave, John Conner, John Jones and John Hall or any two of them do lay off and assign unto the said Jane Cloud her Dower in the lands of her late Husband William Cloud deceased in this County and make Report thereof to the Court.
On the Motion of Jane Cloud it is ordered that the aforesaid Persons or any two of them do assign to her her Dower in the Slaves of which her said husband William died possessed & furthermore that they distribute the other personal Estate of the said William according to Law amongst the several persons entitled to distributive share thereof.
An account was produced from Charles Daniel Deputy Sheriff for comparing the Polls of this County for a Member to Congress amounting to L1-12-8 which was allow'd & Ordered to be certified.

On the Motion of William Anderson it is ordered that he be allowed at the usual rates to keep a ferry from the point at the Forks of Licking across the Main fork and the South Fork to the opposite Shores he having with Squire Grant his Security entered into and acknowledged Bond conditioned as the law directs.
On the motion of John Grant the question was put whether the proceedings on the lst Monday in February last respecting the fixing the Seat of Justice was legal or not and it was the opinion of John Roberts, John Hall, Squire Grant, John Ewing and John Bartle that it was not legal and proceeded to take it up whereupon Henry Brasher was of opinion that it ought not to be taken up and withdrew from his Seat the above named Justices were of opinion that Thomas Kennedy was present but he directed the Clerk to enter him absent & refused to let (?) in the business and accordingly withdrew from his seat.
Page 75-An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from Humphrey Marshall of the one part to William Graves of the other part was certified by the Clerk of Woodford County & ordered to be recorded.
An Indenture of Bargain & Sale from William Cary of the one part to Humphrey Marshall of the other part was certified by the Clerk of Woodford County & Ordered to be recorded.
On the motion of William Cave It is ordered that a Bond from Humphrey Marshall by John Taylor his Attorney in fact to William Graves be recorded.
Ordered that Henry Anderson's Mark of Stock (at his instance) to wit a Cross of the left Ear be recorded.
Ordered that Washington Berry, Thomas Kennedy and Henry Brasher or any two of them do examine and Settle the Account of Robert Benham's Executorship of the Estate of Peter Benham dec'd and make Report thereof to the next Court.
Ordered that John Points act as Overseer of the Road from Newport to Columbia in the room of John Spencer.
Ordered that Court be adjourned till Court in course at Wilmington. Signed John Roberts
