FOUNDER OF ST JOSEPH ORPHANAGE DIES
Very Rev Conrad Rotter, organizer of St Joseph's Orphan Society
of Newport, Ky. and founder of St Elizabeth's Hospital, Covington Ky. died after
a lingering illness at the parsonage of St Josephs Church, Peoria Ill. Rotter
had hundreds of friends in this city, Covington and Newport, who will be pained
to hear of his death.
He was so many years connected with the Mother of God parish, Covington and St Stephen's parish, Newport, where he still lovely remembered.
father Rotter was born at Schlessen, near Augsburg, Germany, on November 24, 1835. He came to America at the age of 23, and finished his theological studies at St Vincent's Seminary, St Vincent Penn. On March 9 last he observed his thirty-seventh year of ordination to the priesthood. The St Joseph Orphan Society, will at its next session, adopt suitable resolutions, which will be framed and adorn the walls of the St Joseph's Orphan Asylum, back of Newport.
