Pvt. Clifford T Theiss, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Theiss Jr. 1027 Washington avenue, Newport, was reported by the War Department as killed in action in Italy, according to information received by his parents.
Stationed with the infantry, Pvt. Theiss had been in the service 16 months and went overseas in November 1943. He was a former baseball player with the Martz Cards of the Buckeye League.
He was previously listed by the War Department as missing in action in January 1944.
