Clifford Fredrick Steinhauer

Ft Thomas Living-12 August 1943

Letters were received yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steinhauer, Licking Pike, Wilder, telling of the accidental death of their son, Clifford Steinhauer in Sicily. One of the letters was from Captain William J James of a field artillery company, under whom Corporal Steinhauer had served, another was from 13 of his buddies in the same company.

Enlisting on March 4, 1941 at Ft Thomas, Corporal Steinhauer received training at Camp Hulen, Texas; Indian Gap, Pennsylvania; Ireland and England before being sent to North Africa, where he was in Tunisia and Egypt before going to Sicily, where he met his death accidentally at the hands of one of his pals.
