Corp. Clifford Schnitzler, 27 year old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Chris Schnitzler, Alexandria, has been awarded the Purple Heart for "valor
and bravery in the face of the enemy" in North Africa. Corporal Schnitzler, who
was a gunner and radio tender in a tank, suffered shrapnel wounds in the face,
but was not seriously wounded, he told his sister, Mrs. Elsie Davis, 1211 S Ft
Thomas avenue, in a letter Wednesday.
He received the Purple Heart Feb 1 he said.
