Clifford Neely, Seaman second class, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neely, of 208 W Seventh street, Newport, was listed by the Navy Department as missing in a typhoon in the South Pacific, it was learned here.

He was aboard the destroyer Spence which was reported by the Navy Department as lost in a hurricane. Seaman Neely, husband of Mrs. Jean Neely, of the Seventh street address, entered the Navy in May 1943 and was sent overseas 15 months ago.

His mother collapsed after she received the Navy Department telegram. The Newport Life Squad was called to revive her.
