Pastor Clemens August Jesse, a Catholic Priest in Covington, was the son of
teacher Jesse in Harnelsdorf, German-Krone Distric in the Province of West
Prussia. He was born September 11, 1848. After receiving a good
education at this parental home he studied at the German-Krone Gymnasium.
In 1869 he came to America to study philosophy and theology at St. Mary's
Seminary in Cincinnati. Here he completed his studies under the famous Dr.
Pabisch.
He was ordained priest in summer of 1876 and became chaplain of the German St. Joseph's Orphanage and later assistant priest at Mother of God's Church. Through love and devotion to his parishioners he won the respect and devotion of the whole parish. He died in the bloom of his life on June 3, 1883.
