Police Chief Louis Thoeny, of Ft Thomas and Fire Chief Eugene Jolly of Dayton, were made defendants in divorce actions filed late yesterday in the Campbell Circuit Court. Clara M Thoeny in her petition, sets out that they were married March 24, 1904, and her husband abandoned her in December of the same year.
The plaintiff was a former Miss Dye and she caused a sensation in Newport by disappearing the night set for her marriage to Thoeny. The latter was heartbroken at his bride to be failing to be on hand for the marriage ceremony and searched all of the surrounding cities and towns in a vain endeavor to locate her.
A few days later she turned up as suddenly as she had disappeared and they were married by Father McNerney. She says that he abandoned her without any fault on her part and refuses to live with her.
