A UNTIED STATES ARREST
We noticed yesterday that Marshall Cook, of Newport, had made an
arrest of a deserter from the United States Army by the name of Chas McDonald,
who left the army at Leavenworth. He succeeded in finding McDonald on the hill
back of White Hall and delivered him to the charge of Colonel Buchanan at the
Barracks in Newport.
Previous to his capture it was ascertained that he had stolen a watch from another soldier in the Barracks, and yesterday Marshall Cook came over, procured a warrant from U S Commissioner Athey and then went over to Newport and arrested him. He will have his examination this morning before the Commissioner and we will then give the result.
