After serving 21 months of the battle fields of France with the American forces, Charles R Woods, step son of Joseph Dietz, Campbell co. sheriff, arrived in Newport Sunday. He participated in some of the biggest battles of the war with the Third Division.
Woods was among the first Newport boys to enlist and was with the first contingent to go to Europe with the AEF. He has been finally discharged and is now at home in Ann st.
