NEWPORT
Charles E Remelin, died yesterday at his home on East Fourth street of injuries sustained from a fall while suffering a stroke of paralysis a few days ago. The bone of his thigh was shattered and complications resulted in his death.
The deceased was a retired capitalist and recently purchased the home of the late Colonel George Washington. His marriage to a young woman a short time ago was followed by an attempt on the part of his relatives to have a guardian appointed to care for his estate. Action was brought in the Circuit Court and after long litigation it was decided that he was amply able to look after his affairs.

WIDOW GIVEN ALL
Children of Charles E Remelin, whose death occurred in Newport
last week, threaten to bring suit to contest his will unless his widow, who is
the beneficiary, compromises with them. Remelin was formerly a steamboat captain
and amassed a fortune. Several years previous to his death, he married a second
time, against the wishes of his children.
The bride was Miss Elizabeth Cady, a resident of Cincinnati. She was much younger than Remelin and shortly after their marriage they moved to Newport. Remelin having purchased the palatial home of Col. George Washington, on East Fourth st.
His children in Newport filed an application in the Campbell Circuit Court, asking that a committee be appointed to take care of his estate, claiming that he was incapable of caring for it himself. The jury made a peculiar finding, claiming that Remelin was of sound mind, but advised that some one be placed in charge of his property to manage it. This finding was set aside by Judge Berry and the Court's action was affirmed by the upper court.
Remelin's personal property was in the German National Bank, Newport and his wife was given the keys to his deposit box. His widow stated today that she had no fears as to the outcome of the threatened suit, as her husband turned everything over to her two years ago.
