The new mayor, Charles A Patzold, took the gavel in hand at last night's Council meeting. His bond of $2000 by a Newport bonding company was accepted. The Mayor and Treasurer were authorized to borrow $400 from the bank to pay for sewer assessments against property occupied by school buildings.

At the close of the Bellevue Council meeting last night Mayor elect Joseph A Cassidy, after being sworn in by City Attorney Caldwell, took his seat. The retiring Mayor C A Patzold in a brief speech thanked the members of Council for the uniform courtsey extended him and stated that while some of his actions had been critized, he left the board without regrets for any of his official acts.

A book more than 100 years old, entitled "Cincinnati in 1841-Its Annals and Future Prospects" by Charles Cist, who was the census enumerator in Cincinnati when the federal census was taken in 1840 and well known historian at that time, has been presented C B Truesdell, Ft Thomas, secretary and officers and members of the Christopher Gist Historical Society, for reference and study by Capt. Charles A Patzold, Grandview avenue, Bellevue.

Previous to presenting the book, Capt. Patzold, recalled that he was born Dec 28, 1865 at 196 Betts street, Cincinnati, the home of his parents. He attended the old Fourth District Intermediate School and Woodward High School in Cincinnati. At that time Cincinnati had but two high schools, Woodward and Hughes.

Charles A Patzold, 90, of 416 Grandview avenue, Bellevue, president of the Bellevue Commercial & Savings Bank, died Monday at his home. Services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Dobbling funeral home, Bellevue, Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Thursday.

Mr. Patzold, a promenent resident of Campbell county, took an active part in civic and fraternal affairs. He was a former president of the Bellevue Board of Education; a lifelong member and twice exalted ruler of Newport Lodge of Elks; a member of Newport Commander, Knights Templar; Henry Barnes Lodge of Masons and the Newport Rotary Club. Mr. Patzold was former treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Evergreen Cemetery Co. and former manager of the Kentucky Division of the Hatfield Campbell Creek Coal Co.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. M Isabella Patzold, and a brother, Oswald Patzold, Seattle, Washington. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
