WERE THEY DROWNED?

Friends of Mr. Charles Smith, a former resident of Newport, who was living at Galveston (Texas) at the time of the catastrophe that befell that city, now fear that he and his entire family were killed. They lived on M street, where nearly every residence was destroyed.

Squire Hutchinson, who is intimately acquainted with Smith, has written to him but can get no answere.
