A telegram announcing that Sergeant Howard Shiffer, 22, whose parents live at 630 Monroe st. Newport, had died of pneumonia was received Wednesday. Sergeant Shiffer was a son of Barton B Shiffer and has been in the service since Sep 3. In civil life he was employed by the Proctor and Gamble Co Cincinnati, and was well known on both sides of the river.
